Armenia Cntry Rd

armenia Armenia Cntry Rd was imported from Austria into the United States as a weanling by Larry Smith of Country Road Haflinger Farm in Clinton, Michigan. As an Austrian import, she proudly displays the world renown T/H brand as a testament to her breeding heritage.

“Jette”, as she is lovingly called around the barn, is sired by the late world champion haflinger stallion, Amadeus. Amadeus was said to be the most prominent haflinger breeding stallion in the history of the breed. He produced champion offspring that continue to dominate world shows. Some of his most famous offspring include the two-time time current World Champion stallion Abdenstern and the current Reserve World Champion stallion, Anthony. He also sired the current reigning World Champion mare, Dematteo. Sadly, Amadeus died suddenly in the fall of 2007, but the legacy of his offspring lives on through their domination at breed shows throughout the world.

Jette’s dam is a mare by the name of “Andri”. Andri has produced many famous offspring including several approved Austrian breeding stallions. Her most famous offspring though may be the Austrian mare, ‘Abba’. This daughter, who in addition to repeatedly being at the top of her age group at the shows, has also produced many selected Austrian stallions herself, which is quite an accomplishment. Abba is a ¾ sister to Jette because they have the same dam although Jette’s sire is Amadeus whereas Abba’s sire is a son of Amadeus. We hope that our Jette will prove to be as consistent of a producer as her parents and siblings!

Jette’s personality has quickly earned her the distinction of being a favorite among our herd. Without fail, she is always the first to greet us at the gate and it is readily apparent that she generally just enjoys spending time around people. Prior to her arrival at Genesis Farm, she had been used primarily for driving, even working in a unicorn hitch at Mackinaw Island. Now, Jette is exploring new performance venues as her riding training is progressing.

armenia2Jette’s breeding and performance career is just unfolding! Jette received an AHR silver classification score in the summer of 2008. Over the summer months, she was ridden and trained by Elizabeth LeMieux. Jette and Liz were honored in the Tri-State Challenge with being Top 5 in both halter and in the walk-trot division for the 2008 season.

Jette has been sold Mike and Marsha Ernest of Bargersville, Indiana, in partnership with Ken and Kay Tearman of Dutch Acres. Jette will be shown on the 2009 circuit and they intend to breed her to our two-time AHR ‘National Champion Stallion’ and three-time AHR ‘Stallion of the Year’, Arno van het Nieshof, for a 2010 foal.
