Update: Congratulations to Windstar on his title as the 2011 AHR draft ‘Stallion of the Year’. His offspring took 1st, 2nd, and 4th place in the draft SIP Futurity class at the 2011 AHR Futurity, making him the highest point earning stallion represented in the division!
Windstar Van de Ooste (AHR) was imported into the United States from Holland by Genesis Farm in December of 2007.
“Windstar” is sired by the Dutch Selection Champion, Windspiel. Windspiel is not only a champion horse himself but is known throughout Holland as a producer of champions. His offspring top shows throughout the country. Windstar’s dam, ‘Mara Van de Wortel’, has been judged Youth Champion in Holland among other selection titles. She is sired by the famous stallion ‘Amsterdam’, who was World Reserve Champion Stallion, who in turn was sired by the great renown stallion, ‘Amadeus’, the World Champion. Mara Van de Wortel’s dam, ‘Mira Van de Wortel’, was a National Champion in Holland and also is a STER mare in Holland (which is a special title only given to mares who produce a certain number of high classified offspring).
Windstar was judged 1-A as a weanling, being named Champion Foal at the first and only show that he attended in Holland.
Windstar’s first show here in the United States was the AHR National Futurity in Danville, Indiana. At the AHR National Futurity, Windstar won 1st place in the 2-year-old stallion division and went on to be named the Reserve Champion 2-year-old. At the Stallion Liberty that same week, Windstar showcased his explosive movement and animation.
In October 2008, Windstar was the 1st place 2-year-old Stallion at the GLHA Futurity. He went on to be named ‘Champion 2-year-old’ at the show. This was only Windstar’s second show ring appearance in the United States and he is quickly proving that he can be a champion in this country as well.
In July of 2009, Windstar completed his official AHR Inspection and Classification and received his silver status—he was scored at 78 points.
With powerful movement, exceptional type and correctnesss, packaged into a world-class pedigree, Windstar brings a lot to the table as a future herd sire standing at Genesis Farm.
Windstar’s first foal crop out of a small and select group of mares arrived in 2010.
At the 2011 AHR Futurity, Windstar was represented by two of his Genesis Farm offspring. Worthington of Genesis (link) sired by Windstar and out of the great Belle vande Haflinger Hoev (link), won 1st place in the draft Senior Weanling colt class. B-Dazzle of Genesis (link), sired by Winstar and out of the mare, By Design of Genesis (link), won 1st place in the draft Senior Weanling filly class. In the draft Senior Weanling Championship class, B-Dazzle of Genesis was named Champion of the division, which Worthington of Genesis was named Reserve Champion. In the AHR Draft SIP class, Worthington of Genesis was named the Champion foal and B-Dazzle of Genesis was named the Reserve Champion. Another Windstar offspring owned by another exhibitor placed 4th in the class. These significant placings by Windstar’s offspring in the 2011 AHR SIP draft class, earned Windstar the title of the 2011 AHR Draft SIP ‘Stallion of the Year’.
We anticipate that Windstar, with high AHR silver classification and now with the 2011 title of draft ‘Stallion of the Year’, will make a name for himself and leave his mark on the haflinger breed, just as his stable-mates Arno and Alfa have. His imported bloodlines make him a unique asset to breeding programs. He is being offered For Sale to a select approved home only. Please contact Genesis Farm for further details.
